Pepón Osorio is an incredibly talented artist. An artist from Puerto Rico, he was inspired by his work as a social worker in the Bronx. His pieces hold an immense amount of meaning and depth. He often has very large scale installations that consist of objects covered with smaller objects. He took this strategy and applied it to another type of art that I think perfectly exemplifies the meaning behind his work. He created a piece known as "Tina's House". After hearing the story of a home that was burned down due to a fire, he recreated their house on a smaller scale. He filled it with small replications of items within their house, recreating their home once more. He then sent this piece to other homes in order to spread the story of Tina and her family. It's a beautiful strategy to me. He said that he believes art can have more of an impact out in the world than it can simply sitting alone in a museum, and I couldn't agree more.
